[09:26] <SA6BSS-Mike1> no :)
[09:27] <PC4L_hab> almost home :)
[09:27] <SA6BSS-Mike1> I just did not give the gps enough time to gain lock
[09:27] <SA6BSS-Mike1> yep, closing in on its second lap
[09:28] <PC4L_hab> still 20 up in the air? LOL
[09:29] <PC4L_hab> ow yeah now I see. the up and downs in the graph.. nothing to worry
[09:30] <SA6BSS-Mike1> got the rotator hocked up yesterday agian after I rebuilt the radio room
[09:30] <SA6BSS-Mike1> yep, its magnetgud
[09:30] <SA6BSS-Mike1> guided
[09:30] <PC4L_hab> can I turn my house into the sun?
[09:31] <SA6BSS-Mike1> so it swings out of sun, I know at roomtemp in a controlled testing it gains lock within 40 sec so I set the gps switshing to 51 sec , lots of things hapen whn they get cold and unstabel vcc
[09:31] <SA6BSS-Mike1> next will be 55 sec
[09:31] <PC4L_hab> ready for countdown
[09:32] <PC4L_hab> that remembers me.. it´s ISS day with new pic protocol
[09:33] <SA6BSS-Mike1> aha, wel, Im waiting for them to tuen on the aprs again so I can test the aprs board to try reach iss repeater
[09:34] <PC4L_hab> I will give them a call ;)

[09:39] <SA6BSS-Mike1> what sstv decoder do you use?
[09:40] <PC4L_hab> I read somewhere that you should use KG-STV

[09:41] <SA6BSS-Mike1> tnx
[09:45] <PC4L_hab> so we should listen on 437.800 instead of 145.800 ?!
[09:46] <SA6BSS-Mike1> no, I think that reffers to the crossband rep
[09:47] <SA6BSS-Mike1> or... hm, wel see
[09:47] <SA6BSS-Mike1> your probably right, its on 437.800 MHz
[09:48] <signaleleven[m]> yes, 437.800 https://network.satnogs.org/observations/5496567/
[09:48] <SA6BSS-Mike1> tnx
[09:48] <signaleleven[m]> unfortunately many stations attempt to use the repeater to do QSOs and the results are not perfect

[16:13] <bismurphy> hi all, very interested in chasing HABs and finding sondes. A couple questions: Why does it seem that Europe has a much higher density of balloons, and why does Sondehub have no data from the Rapid City, SD launch site? Is it just a matter of there being nobody in that vicinity running receivers?
[16:18] <PE2BZ> My bet would be you are right :-) Any chance you can start an auto_rx station yourself ? Do you know anything about the used frequency / sonde type ?
[16:23] <PE2BZ> twice a day https://www.blackhillsfox.com/2020/07/21/national-weather-service-in-rapid-city-launches-weather-balloon/ but I can´t recognize the type of sonde.

[16:26] <PE2BZ> bismurphy, https://mobile.twitter.com/NWSRapidCity/status/1491904504937152533/photo/1
[16:27] <bismurphy> Maybe I'll give them a phone call - I'll ask what sonde they use, and ask them where returned sondes come from, then I'll see where a receiver might be able to be set up. Maybe a nearby university would be willing to host the equipment or something
[16:28] <SpacenearUS> New position from 03DG4NOB-13 after 033 days silence - 12https://tracker.habhub.org/#!qm=All&q=DG4NOB-13
[16:31] <PE2BZ> bismurphy, you can make one for as much as 40 dollars if you have a PC around. On linux there is auto_rx for free, for windows there is 27 days trial sondemonitor,
[16:32] <PE2BZ> and free rs41 tracker but, as it says. only RS41´s
[16:33] <SA6BSS-Mike> this is by far the most simple and cheap tracker that can run 24/7 https://github.com/dl9rdz/rdz_ttgo_sonde
[16:34] <SA6BSS-Mike> dont know about compatibilety though, but if its rs41 all good :)
[16:37] <PE2BZ> I nearly forgot that one :-) mine are upgraded to TinyGS ;-)

[21:28] <VK5QI> in that video was a LMS6
[21:29] <VK5QI> bismurphy: unfortunately rapid city is launching 1680 MHz LMS6 sondes, which re one of the hardest to receie
[21:29] <VK5QI> receive*
[21:30] <VK5QI> only auto_rx will decode these, and you need a decent gain antenna (helix or dish) for 1680 MHz and a preamp
[21:32] <VK5QI> alto TinyGS can get in the bin for supporting satellites which were declined IARU coordination, and are using the amateur radio bands illegally...
