[10:58] <gef> Hello, currently testing my payload in the freezer. while it's there I thought I would see if I can get it on habhub... From what I've read I create a payload document with the callsign, and that should be it? on the habhub log tail, I can see my data coming in, but get 'No config doc for R3SP01 found'
[10:58] <gef> i don;t have to get these approved do I? thats just flight documents?
[10:59] <daveake> Approval is as you say only for flight docs
[10:59] <daveake> You need to check your payload doc and make sure that the callsign in the telemetry section matches your payload callsign i.e. R3SP01
[11:00] <SpacenearUS> New vehicle on the map: 03R3SP01 - 12https://tracker.habhub.org/#!qm=All&q=R3SP01
[11:00] <gef> ah ha!
[11:00] <gef> oh, vehicle
[11:01] <gef> ah yes, thats it - I had missed the payload name in the parser config section - didnt realise it's set twice :)
[11:02] <daveake> That's the key one
[11:03] <gef> Getting close to have everything ready now - just at what it guess is the most windy time of the year!
[11:04] <gef> I'm using LCARS with lora gw for one of the trackers...
[11:04] <gef> it's putting itself at lat=0 lng=0
[11:04] <gef> is it possible to align that with GPS, or disable on map?
[11:05] <gef> infact, i bet i should try just removing the lat lng from config.
[11:20] <daveake> My Python LCARS? You can set up the GPS port e.g. /dev/ttyUSB0

[11:40] Nick change: Simonas -> ly2en
[11:41] <gef> during freezer testing camera lens seems to have frost on - is that an issue at altitude?
[11:46] <gef> thought of some enhancements for PITS... Could have an option to record video on the pi, to save sending a go-pro up as well, using raspivid... then maybe do the video in segments, and then either taking a photo between segments, or doing something to extract the first frame from each segment to use as a photo (for ssdv, etc)
[11:51] <daveake> There's not a lot of humidity at altitude, no :)
[11:51] <gef> goodo :)
[11:52] <daveake> And yes you can change the camera script to take say 30 seconds of video, then do the stills, then back to video
[11:52] <daveake> Or you could replace it with a Python script and use the camera library to do video plus stills at the same time
[11:53] <gef> it's just this that gets called to cordinate? https://github.com/PiInTheSky/pits/blob/master/tracker/camera
[11:54] <gef> where do the ssdv pics come into it? dont want to break that aspect
[11:56] <daveake> The simplest thing would be to insert a raspivid line to take say 30s of video once per loop. Set the filename to date/time.mp4
[11:57] <daveake> So long as you keep the video short then the loop will run frequently enough to take a few stills, so that the C code can choose the "best" (largest jpg) image to send
[11:57] <gef> ah cool, was just looking through snapper.c
[11:58] <daveake> No need to change that
[11:58] <gef> just to work out how images were aquired for ssdv :)
[11:59] <daveake> Essentially, the C code determines the resolution and frequency from the config, and when it's time to take a photo it generates a short script to take that photo
[11:59] <daveake> It does this for each "channel" which are RTTY, 2 LoRa channels and a full-sized-image "channel" for storage only
[12:00] <daveake> The generated script is run by the camera script to take the photo
[12:00] <daveake> The idea is that several photos are taken during the time it takes to transmit to the ground
[12:01] <daveake> The C code chooses the best image, then generates a script to convert that to SSDV format, and that gets run again by the main camera script
[12:01] <daveake> Finally the C code reads the SSDV file and sends to the ground

[17:16] <ly2en> on ubuntu the compiler works fine, but the linker somehow forgets what's strlcpy()
[17:17] <bertrik> I remember there was some discussion about compiling dl-fldigi, with people having trouble with it, is that still a thing?
[17:18] <bertrik> I could help get it back to compile again, if anyone's interested
[17:19] <SA6BSS-Mike> I think he compiles the 4fsk/aprs/rtty fw for the rs41
[17:19] <SA6BSS-Mike> or try to

[17:38] <SA6BSS-Mike> tnx :)
[17:38] <SA6BSS-Mike> it on its second lap now
[17:38] Action: PE2BZ is a bit jealous now
[17:38] <SA6BSS-Mike> lol
[17:39] <SA6BSS-Mike> and then -10 called in and all was fine agian ;)
[17:39] <PE2BZ> Exactly :-)
[17:40] <ly2en> i'm jealous too because my kid got sick and few sunny days just passed by - couldn't launch
[17:40] <ly2en> still have to drop few solar panels out of the stack and do some more testing on decode
[17:40] <PE2BZ> Today I added 6 times solar to wspr tracker ( PA3DJR as TX callsign) and after finishing I noticed there are 2 weeks of wind and rain upcoming.
[17:40] <SA6BSS-Mike> yeah, timeconsuming hobby, but think of ot you will have lots of fun comming years :)
[17:41] <ly2en> those sunny days will return in December, with -10 outside :)
[17:41] <PE2BZ> ly2en, How´s she doing ? My boys are 17,5 and 20 now, not a lot to do with them when ;-)
[17:41] <SA6BSS-Mike> and solar angle at 10°
[17:41] <SA6BSS-Mike> max at noon
[17:41] <ly2en> PE2BZ: she's 3,5 and super curious/active (and still the only kid)
[17:41] <PE2BZ> Not over here, I ¨calculated¨ we should have 15 as lowest value
[17:42] <SA6BSS-Mike> I have 8 at lowest
[17:42] <SA6BSS-Mike> I would REALLY like to test my new homemade balloon!
[17:42] <PE2BZ> ly2en, enjoy :-) All ages have their ups and downs ;-)
[17:43] <ly2en> SA6BSS-Mike: the fun comes not only from a nice flight (that's more for others), to me is to understand the nitty gritty details in the hardware, etc
[17:43] <ly2en> PE2BZ: surely it's a bliss to be able to become a 3yo for 1 hour or so...
[17:43] <ly2en> but when you have to play a 3yo all day long...
[17:43] <SA6BSS-Mike> indeed, lots of details and angles on the habubg hobby

[17:44] <ly2en> so really need to launch :)

[17:44] <PE2BZ> SA6BSS-Mike, sounds like a nice job ;-)
[17:44] <SA6BSS-Mike> luckely thee oldest are only 12 so the party ends at 21 :)
