[06:43] <ly2en> SA6BSS-Mike1: is it possible that the atgm336h is the first to die from overvoltage ?
[06:55] <SA6BSS-Mike1> its possible
[06:56] <ly2en> meh, will probably have to start over
[06:57] <ly2en> tried to test the BOD with regulated power supply
[06:57] <ly2en> and it was set to 5v by default :|

[08:45] <PE2BZ> ly2en, how much voltage would be ¨overvoltage¨ ?
[08:46] <ly2en> no idea, the gps specs say 3.3V +- 10%
[08:46] <ly2en> and yeah, i've went full 70mA
[08:47] <ly2en> probably low current would have dropped the voltage to something less hazardous but anyway, got five more gps units available so not to worry about that right now
[08:47] <ly2en> the other thing is that I've burned 3 solar cells for sake of learning how to solder them
[08:48] <ly2en> and now this is outsourced to a fellow ham who has a better hand at it, hehe
[08:48] <PE2BZ> I have tested a bare ATGM336h on a wspr tracker. At 3.6 V it draw 40 mA when not transmitting. At 4.2 V (tested on Lipo) it draw 42 mA. AFter that I wired it to the bench supply. at 4.5 Volt the tracker did draw 44 mA when not transmitting. So to me it looked like the ATGM336h did handle that quite well, and it kept running on the bench supply for 24 hours without problems.
[08:48] <ly2en> not sure why but right now the gps looks dead. I will grab the tx/rx pins to check if that is true, later
[08:49] <SA6BSS-Mike1> I would say 3.6v +-10%
[08:49] <PE2BZ> Soldering solar cells takes some losses at start. For me, the positive side ;-) 320 - 330 degrees, Weller station, Sn60 Pb 40 gives the best results.
[08:49] <SA6BSS-Mike1> and then some more :)
[08:50] <PE2BZ> The negative side is not that difficult, it´s more forgiven...
[08:50] sumie-dh (~sumie-dh@78.108.102.220) joined #highaltitude.
[08:51] <ly2en> well it's just all about waiting for the cheap components from china to arrive
[08:51] <ly2en> now after the summer holidays I have plenty of those available
[08:51] <PE2BZ> Personally never had profit from using seperate flux
[08:51] <ly2en> separate flux just thrashes the whole cell and puts it for cleaning
[08:52] <PE2BZ> You wouldn´t need it for the top side of the cell.
[08:52] <PE2BZ> I made a foam holder, which was a very bad idea. After soldering 6 cells together they where melted into the foam
[08:57] <ly2en> https://pasteboard.co/Av0NvOYUnk2f.jpg
[08:57] <ly2en> first attempt :)
[08:59] <PE2BZ> Now that´s the way to prepare spareribs ;-)

[10:43] <ly2en> probably didn't have a fix for some other reason

[10:52] <VK5QI> YO3ICT: there you go :-)
[10:54] <YO3ICT> yup
[10:55] <YO3ICT> have you experimented with rs41 ssdv ?
[10:55] <VK5QI> no
[10:55] <VK5QI> have only used them as positional trackers
[10:56] <YO3ICT> ssdv would be interesting, as the rs41 is so much less power hungry than raspberry
[10:56] <VK5QI> that goes back to the old way of doing SSDV really
[10:56] <VK5QI> with cameras that do JPEG internal, and you get the image via serial, bit by bit
[10:56] <VK5QI> how fsphil did it years ago
[10:59] <YO3ICT> i guess the question is if rs41 can be used as a platform for any type of image transmissions and if there is any released firmware for that
[10:59] <VK5QI> unsure
[11:15] <fsphil> someone did do that a few years ago
[11:15] <daveake> esp32s would work - plenty of ram and there's an esp32 camera
[11:17] <fsphil> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfugrVBCA98
[11:17] <fsphil> 5 years. wwwaaaattt
[11:21] <daveake> Hah, nice
[11:21] <daveake> I think I missed that at the time
[11:33] <YO3ICT> Yes, but not released
[11:33] <YO3ICT> I have flown one esp32-cam + rs41. The image quality is poor.
