[10:14] <Laurenceb> hi
[10:16] <SpeedEvil> hi
[10:19] Action: Laurenceb had a cr*p weekend :-/
[10:19] <SpeedEvil> :/
[10:19] <SpeedEvil> I had a crap monday.
[10:20] <SpeedEvil> But I think I've gone on about that already.
[10:20] <Laurenceb> managed to break my diamond saw :-(
[10:20] <SpeedEvil> ah.
[10:20] <SpeedEvil> expensive blade - or did you break the saw.
[10:20] <Laurenceb> expensive blade and maybe the attachment
[10:20] <Laurenceb> dropped it
[10:21] <SpeedEvil> :/
[10:21] <Laurenceb> I was working at about 1am in the dark
[10:21] <SpeedEvil> you mean a concrete saw type thing?
[10:21] <SpeedEvil> petrol?
[10:21] <Laurenceb> yes
[10:21] <SpeedEvil> Laurenceb: Why were you sawing in the dark?
[10:21] <Laurenceb> to get it finished in time :P
[10:22] <SpeedEvil> I picked up 6 packs of 6 CFLs from morrisons for 49p each, to help with that.
[10:22] <SpeedEvil> string them along a bit of flex, and my garage lighting is complete
[10:22] <Laurenceb> heh
[10:23] <SpeedEvil> 'energy saving' - well yes, if you don't use 50 of them at a time.
[10:24] <Laurenceb> then some of my mums tenants managed to embed a washing machine in their front door
[10:24] <SpeedEvil> one of the 12" saws?
[10:24] <Laurenceb> yes
[10:24] <SpeedEvil> I assume trying to get it in or out?
[10:24] <Laurenceb> supposedly
[10:24] <Laurenceb> more likely they thought it would be funny
[10:25] <Laurenceb> as they are moving out after a despute over rent
[10:25] <SpeedEvil> I assume wedged at an angle?
[10:25] <Laurenceb> yes, through a bottom panel
[10:25] <SpeedEvil> Well - at least oving out, not squatting.
[10:25] <Laurenceb> true
[10:25] <SpeedEvil> Have they trashed the place?
[10:25] <Laurenceb> not that badly
[10:26] <Laurenceb> smashed boor, mud on carpets, broken smoke alarms
[10:26] <SpeedEvil> Ah - a middle class trashing.
[10:27] <Laurenceb> its easily fixable apart from the door
[10:27] <MikeMc> lol
[10:28] <Laurenceb> its a restored wooden door as its in a conservation area so it needs a new bottom panel to match and moldings ect
[10:29] <SpeedEvil> :/
[10:30] <SpeedEvil> Insurance?
[10:30] <Laurenceb> maybe... not sure how much they would value something like that at
[10:30] GeekShadow (n=Antoine@reactos/tester/GeekShadow) joined #highaltitude.
[10:31] <Laurenceb> its the time and trouble that counts
[10:31] <SpeedEvil> What it costs to replace.
[10:31] <SpeedEvil> ah - I was assuming the buy a door case
[10:31] <Laurenceb> nah - its made of pitch pine
[10:32] <Laurenceb> which is a pain to source now - with FSC etc.
[10:32] <SpeedEvil> you need FSC?
[10:33] <Laurenceb> pretty much all the timber people get wood from FSC sources
[10:33] <Laurenceb> pitch pine is a pain to get hold of
[10:33] <SpeedEvil> ah.
[10:34] <Laurenceb> most antique pine is pitch pine, way more durable
[10:34] <SpeedEvil> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Real-Pitch-Pine-Wooden-Flooring-Resawen-from-Reclaimed_W0QQitemZ170399865301QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item27ac9f99d5
[10:34] <Laurenceb> mmm nice
[10:36] <Laurenceb> but expensive
[10:36] <MikeMc> can you not take the cost from their deposit?
[10:36] <Laurenceb> yes, but it only barely covers the cost
[10:41] <MikeMc> i see

[18:20] <jcoxon> hmmm i'm still getting issues with the cusf landing predictor
[18:20] <jcoxon> while wunderground looks good on thurs the cusf still has a sea landing
[18:22] <RocketBoy> yeah - i have noticed that a couple of times - the wunder is all purple/pink and the CUSF says its gona land in the sea
[18:23] <RocketBoy> I have to say i have a lot of faith in the CUSF predictor these days
[18:23] <jcoxon> i think we are experiencing some high alt winds
[18:23] <RocketBoy> I'll have a look ay wyoming
[18:23] <jcoxon> around 100mb
[18:23] <jcoxon> as if you run it as 20km alt burst its matches better
[18:24] <RocketBoy> ah - that could be it
[18:24] <jcoxon> i'll look into it a bit more
[18:27] <RocketBoy> uugg - I had forgotten how much better CUSF was than Wyoming
[18:28] <jcoxon> hehe
[18:28] <jcoxon> i could run some hysplit models to see whats happening at various altitudes
[18:28] <jcoxon> but i agree - trust cusf
[18:31] <RocketBoy> yeah - I was thinking the other days that it was a major step forward in UK HABing
[18:32] <jcoxon> i think there is a new version on the horizon
[18:32] <jcoxon> RocketBoy, doing a talk/workshop tomorrow at the London Hackspace meeting
[18:34] <RocketBoy> way cool
[18:34] <RocketBoy> on HABing presumably
[18:37] <RocketBoy> I just run Wyoming and CUSF for 06Z Thursday - almost identical to withing 3 or 4 miles - both burst and landing spot

[23:23] <Randomskk> hey fergusnoble
[23:23] <fergusnoble> hi
[23:23] <Randomskk> is the new predictor supposed to just work as-is
[23:23] <Randomskk> the python bit doesn't seem to co-operate with the c bit?
[23:24] <Randomskk> I was playing around with it a bit
[23:25] <Randomskk> the c part compiles fine but needs the wind data, the python bit didn't run at first, now seems to run, but outputs a single test file that does seem to contain the data but doesn't get found by the C bit, even if I rename it to what the C bit is looking for?
[23:27] <Randomskk> though the data files the python bit gets seem to be totally arbitrary so I was wondering if that part isn't actually done yet or such.
