[00:26] <Laurenceb> hi folks
[00:26] <fuzzylugnut> Hi
[00:27] <Laurenceb> edmoore: sorry didnt post your GM862 board
[00:27] <Laurenceb> I'll try to fit it in on monday
[00:29] <Laurenceb> lol: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7429638.stm
[00:29] <fuzzylugnut> thats what she said :3
[00:29] <Laurenceb> wonder where jcoxon is :P
[00:30] phatmonkey (n=ben@81.2.121.150) left irc:
[00:31] <fuzzylugnut> must be returning video tapes.
[00:35] <Laurenceb> I was refurring to the party :D
[00:47] edmoore (n=edmoore@pomegranate.chu.cam.ac.uk) left irc:
[00:48] <fuzzylugnut> ah
[01:03] <natrium42> fuzzylugnut, that board is just what comes with the devkit, it has serial connectors and power supply etc
[01:04] <natrium42> you don't really need it since you can wire up to the connector directly
[01:10] <fuzzylugnut> gotcha
[01:11] <fuzzylugnut> any problems with flow control?
[01:12] <fuzzylugnut> did you just use kermit on the ground station?
[01:19] <natrium42> no, i used serial console
[01:19] <natrium42> and z-modem to send files
[01:20] <natrium42> the radio has error correction built-in
[01:20] <fuzzylugnut> Sweet
[01:20] <natrium42> yeah :)
[01:20] <fuzzylugnut> so just attached a getty to the serial line that your modem was on?
[01:20] <natrium42> exactly
[01:21] <fuzzylugnut> when its set up that way, does it send per charachter or does it wait for the CR?
[01:21] <natrium42> it was set per character, but it's probably not the best way
[01:21] <natrium42> i should change it for the next time
[01:22] <fuzzylugnut> yeah, I'm looking for the same fix
[01:22] <fuzzylugnut> I saw in the kernal man page there is a "set delay n" to make it wait a few seconds before sending, but i havn't tried it yet
[01:24] <fuzzylugnut> tee hee! http://uk.gizmodo.com/usb_hub_01.jpg
[01:25] <fuzzylugnut> someone got bored
[01:25] <natrium42> wow
[01:26] <fuzzylugnut> did you have to set the address of those radio modems or did they work right out of the box?
[01:40] <natrium42> well, they are set to 0
[01:40] <natrium42> so it works out of the box
[01:41] <natrium42> but i did change it to something else before launch
[01:43] <fuzzylugnut> ok
[01:43] <Laurenceb> pity we cant use those in the UK
[01:44] <fuzzylugnut> yeah, your restrictions at altitude suck
[01:44] <Laurenceb> but 434MHz has worked fine with RocketBoys setup
[01:44] <fuzzylugnut> yeah
[01:44] <Laurenceb> my version is a bit flaky atm, but RocketBoy got it to work quite well
[01:45] <Laurenceb> its probably most due to my setup
[01:45] Action: Laurenceb wants an icom scanner
[01:46] <Laurenceb> I've got a borrowed one at the moment, its so cool
[01:47] <Laurenceb> might try and make an RTTY decoder in matlab
[01:50] <natrium42> matlab? you have been in the science program too long :P
[01:50] <Laurenceb> hehe
[01:51] <Laurenceb> well I was just looking at a GPS reciever written in matlab
[01:52] <natrium42> nice, is it complex?
[01:52] <Laurenceb> well
[01:52] <Laurenceb> theres many different stages
[01:52] <Laurenceb> havent looked at it all yet
[01:53] <Laurenceb> but I'm going to work on it over the summer - I've got a SiGe sampler to play with
[01:55] <Laurenceb> I think most of my radio problems are due to my use of fldigi, it works well, but I dont think its as good as truetty. I want to make a AFSK reciever from scratch so its easier to work with
[01:55] <Akadecca> damn it
[01:55] Nick change: Akadecca -> akawaka
[01:55] <fuzzylugnut> did you fly your aerosol sampler thingus yet?
[01:55] <Laurenceb> over the summer at some stage
[01:56] <akawaka> i can't access priviledged sprs on this bloody console
[01:56] <fuzzylugnut> cool.
[01:56] <Laurenceb> it'd be nice to improve the radio before then
[01:56] <Laurenceb> then it can fly with my radio board
[01:57] <fuzzylugnut> Laurenceb: how much current does your hvps draw?
[01:57] <Laurenceb> about 150ma
[01:57] MeTa (n=khmhm@dsl51B6640C.pool.t-online.hu) joined #highaltitude.
[01:57] <Laurenceb> depends on the ioniser current, about 70 to 150ma
[01:58] <fuzzylugnut> Ok
[01:58] <fuzzylugnut> what HV voltages were you needing?
[01:59] MetaMorfoziS (n=avr@dsl51B6640C.pool.t-online.hu) left irc: "Most akkor mit csinalt aki miert lepett ki?"
[01:59] <Laurenceb> about 6KV
[02:00] <fuzzylugnut> just one output?
[02:00] <fuzzylugnut> I thought you had a few
[02:00] <Laurenceb> theres 3
[02:00] <Laurenceb> look at the pdf :P
[02:00] <fuzzylugnut> I ask because I'll add a low power hvps to my list of stuff to build when I get back from the road trip
[02:02] <fuzzylugnut> Oh, yes, silly of me! sorry to bother!
[02:02] <Laurenceb> what for ?
[02:02] <fuzzylugnut> because it would be easy to get that down to ~10ma
[02:05] <fuzzylugnut> bed. got a trip tomorrow

[23:23] <Laurenceb> basically the university had booked time on various insturments, so I was organising all the different sounding ect.
