[14:51] <edwardmoore> hi jcoxon
[14:51] <jcoxon> hey edwardmoore
[14:53] <edwardmoore> all well?
[14:54] <jcoxon> yup
[14:54] <jcoxon> dissertation went intoday
[14:54] <edwardmoore> is that you done for the term then?
[14:56] <jcoxon> no no
[14:56] <jcoxon> got finals in 3 weeks
[14:56] <edwardmoore> lol ok
[14:57] <jcoxon> but its me done for the day!
[14:57] <edwardmoore> :)
[14:58] <jcoxon> think i might work on some more of that software
[14:58] <jcoxon> need to get it logging nicely
[15:00] <edwardmoore> yeah.... although frankly with this weather it's not like there's much of a hurry
[15:01] <jcoxon> inded
[15:01] <jcoxon> tis very annoying
[15:01] <jcoxon> really want to get the parfoil tested so we can work on getting some control
[15:02] <jcoxon> what sort of info do we need before we can do some testing?
[15:04] <edwardmoore> you mean in terms of logged data?
[15:05] <jcoxon> yeah
[15:05] <jcoxon> i guess its P I and D
[15:05] <edwardmoore> for logged data you just need to know what happens to the system for a given input
[15:06] <edwardmoore> so if you pull down a servo by a known amount, you want to know how fast you turn
[15:06] <jcoxon> so we need to compare data from the servo sniffer to the gyro and accelerometers
[15:06] <edwardmoore> yes
[15:06] <edwardmoore> if we could get gps data that would be good too
[15:06] <jcoxon> yeah that'll be there as well
[15:06] <edwardmoore> but not strictly necessary
[15:06] <edwardmoore> cool
[15:06] <jcoxon> though its got a slower refresh rate
[15:07] <edwardmoore> well basically if you know how the system works you can design a controller (say, PID) with the correct gains
[15:07] <edwardmoore> yeah it's not a great speed but it helps
[15:08] <jcoxon> i sort of assume that say a PIC will do all the PID stuff
[15:08] <jcoxon> and will get occasional inputs from say a gumstix with gps info etc
[15:08] <edwardmoore> yes that sounds right
[15:09] <edwardmoore> the gumstix should just be a master controller that gives headings
[15:17] <jcoxon> groovy
[15:17] <jcoxon> logging works
[15:17] <jcoxon> can turn it on and off
[15:18] <edwardmoore> bbl

[23:27] <jcoxon> i've added some more stuff
[23:27] <jcoxon> got groovey slidebars that move in relation to the accelerometer data
[23:31] <edwardmoore> oh wow awesome
