[21:39] <jcoxon> hey edwardmoore
[21:40] <edwardmoore> hi james
[21:40] <jcoxon> i've expandeded the software
[21:40] <edwardmoore> oooooooooh (in the style of an itv studio audience)
[21:41] <edwardmoore> screen capture?
[21:41] <jcoxon> one sec
[21:41] <edwardmoore> also, you know make blog are doing a live google earth thing of their baloon in a bit?
[21:42] <edwardmoore> tiff files... honestly :p
[21:42] <jcoxon> nah its not a tiff
[21:42] <jcoxon> tis a jpg
[21:43] <jcoxon> i think!
[21:43] <edwardmoore> claims to be tiff at this end
[21:44] <jcoxon> oops
[21:45] <jcoxon> oh well
[21:45] <jcoxon> it does the job - eventually
[21:46] <jcoxon> did it work?
[21:46] <jcoxon> as its just told me its aborting
[21:46] <jcoxon> if not i'll upload it
[21:46] <edwardmoore> not working ney
[21:46] <edwardmoore> silly thing
[21:47] <jcoxon> okay one sec
[21:49] <jcoxon> http://www.pegasushabproject.org.uk/misc/snapshot2.tiff
[21:51] <edwardmoore> that's very cool. coming on a treat
[21:52] <edwardmoore> am waiting for make's google earth thing to fire into action

[21:52] <jcoxon> when does that start?\
[21:53] <edwardmoore> '3pm'
[21:53] <jcoxon> yeah but when is that?
[21:53] <edwardmoore> which from the google earth position is probs 7-8 hours behind
[21:58] <edwardmoore> so basically any second now or in a couple of beer's time

[22:02] <jcoxon> hi borism
[22:02] <borism> hi
[22:03] <edwardmoore> captured data is rather yummy
[22:03] <jcoxon> hehe its better then it looks
[22:03] <jcoxon> as it crashes when it fills the box up
[22:03] <jcoxon> for some reason it won't switch to a scrollbar thingy
[22:04] <jcoxon> will have to email the mailing list
[22:04] <jcoxon> thats why i added the little tick box at the bottom
[22:04] <edwardmoore> yummy bodge :)
[22:04] <icez> wooh, you programmed that?
[22:05] <jcoxon> icez, yup
[22:05] <icez> is that...perl?
[22:05] <icez> :|
[22:05] <jcoxon> no no my new favourite language
[22:05] <jcoxon> ruby
[22:05] <icez> ohhh!
[22:05] <icez> ruby rocks :)
[22:05] <jcoxon> with the rubycocoa bridge
[22:05] <icez> cool stuff
[22:07] <jcoxon> some how i need to get cocoamodem to talk via applescript to my program
[22:07] <jcoxon> thats going to be the tough bit
[22:07] <jcoxon> then we can decode the radio :-D
[22:07] <jcoxon> and add all the payload info
[22:08] <edwardmoore> is there an obvious way of doing it or is it yucky?
[22:09] <icez> get a PC and burn the mac ;p
[22:10] <jcoxon> well you should be able to get cocoamodem via applescript to log to a file
[22:10] <jcoxon> then it would be easy to open the file and read it
[22:11] <jcoxon> or we could use applescript to actually pass the info directly
[22:12] <edwardmoore> it's above my head
[22:15] <jcoxon> useless person :-D
[22:15] <edwardmoore> i try :p
[22:15] <jcoxon> i'll let you do all the electronics
[22:16] <jcoxon> oooo this is going to be sweet - i've worked out how to embedded a web browser
[22:16] <jcoxon> so we can show google maps
[22:17] <edwardmoore> this sounds pornographic james
[22:17] <jcoxon> just give me a couple of minutes
[22:17] <edwardmoore> ahem...
[22:19] Action: jcoxon can't have google earth open and compile programs with xcode at the same time on his poor 800mhz laptop
[22:22] <edwardmoore> that intel upgrade looking more likely?
[22:26] <jcoxon> really can't afford it
[22:28] <edwardmoore> yeah tell me about it. my car has just put my officially into the red
[22:28] <edwardmoore> me*
[22:30] <edwardmoore> speaking of new macs, i helped a friend switch from his ibook g4 to a new macbook
[22:30] <edwardmoore> i say 'helped'
[22:31] <edwardmoore> just did the fire-wire thing and the entirety of his old laptop was transplanted onto the new one, entirely as he'd left it. it's damn clever.
[22:33] <jcoxon> :-D
[22:34] <edwardmoore> just with more grunt under the hood. it's kinda cool- i feel a lot happier about tayloring my computer now in the knowledge that these bits and bytes will be with me forever
[22:35] <jcoxon> :-)
[22:37] <jcoxon> :(
[22:37] <jcoxon> sooo close
[22:37] <edwardmoore> ?
[22:37] <jcoxon> well got hte view in place
[22:37] <jcoxon> worked out how to call a website
[22:38] <jcoxon> and then it crashed with a bus error
[22:38] <jcoxon> let me have a look

[23:00] <edwardmoore> that's fit
[23:00] <edwardmoore> very fit
[23:01] <jcoxon> :-)
[23:02] <jcoxon> by pressing on the google maps button it'll update it with the latest gps position
[23:03] <jcoxon> though i'll need to work out a way of centering hte map
[23:05] <jcoxon> i'm loving this rubycocoa
[23:06] <jcoxon> i've only written 86 lines of code
[23:07] <edwardmoore> lol

[23:31] <Laurenceb> hi again
[23:31] <Laurenceb> I've been working on avr-dos
[23:32] <Laurenceb> I've got my avr talking to the sd card it appears
[23:32] <Laurenceb> but it gets to "initialising file system" and then hangs
[23:33] <Laurenceb> if I remove the card it says "card error 229 card not found"
[23:34] <Laurenceb> it was designed to use the hardware spi but that goes to the lcd so I've swapped it over to bit banged spi with another library
