[23:23] <jcoxon> stay zeusbot
[23:26] Action: jcoxon has nearly finished the case for Peg IV
[23:26] <jcoxon> the wonders of a glue gun - finally away of glueing polystyrene
[23:33] <LaurenceB> hi there
[23:35] <jcoxon> hey LaurenceB
[23:36] <jcoxon> was rambling to myself :-D
[23:36] <LaurenceB> haven't done much balloon work for a while
[23:37] <LaurenceB> I've been working on a veranda on the side of my house
[23:37] <jcoxon> in this weather?!?!
[23:37] <LaurenceB> Built it over the summer
[23:38] <LaurenceB> I've been redoing the roof so it doesn't make creaking noises
[23:38] <LaurenceB> in the wind
[23:38] <jcoxon> cool
[23:38] <LaurenceB> yes the weather is a problem
[23:38] <LaurenceB> everything i covered in ice
[23:38] <LaurenceB> and wont fit together
[23:39] <LaurenceB> I took everything off today
[23:39] <LaurenceB> but I'll have to leave it to defrost before reattatching the roof panels
[23:40] <LaurenceB> Think I've got the maths sorted for my autopilot module
[23:41] <LaurenceB> just needs some suarts configuring so the master unit can send it commands
[23:42] <LaurenceB> I'm going to make an adaptor board so my laptop can pretend to be the master
[23:42] <jcoxon> thats a good idea
[23:42] <LaurenceB> then I can stick it on my plane and do some tests
[23:42] <jcoxon> now that i've nearly finished my case for Peg IV i really need to work out power
[23:43] <LaurenceB> Cool!
[23:43] <LaurenceB> I'll have to come along to this launch on 7th jan
[23:44] <jcoxon> that would be good
[23:44] <jcoxon> rocketboy has a payload and so does mc-
[23:44] <LaurenceB> Will you be launching from the ears site?
[23:44] <jcoxon> really should configure zeusbot to have a range of countdowns
[23:44] <jcoxon> yeah, thats the plan
[23:45] <jcoxon> though i think i'm also down on the balloon operator list for churchill
[23:45] <LaurenceB> Do you know much about mc's payload? Is it PIC based
[23:46] <jcoxon> yeah its PIC based - very small and light
[23:46] <jcoxon> not like my monster of a payload
[23:47] <LaurenceB> I was thinking of making a payload, I've got all the kit to put one together really quickly
[23:47] <LaurenceB> but I can't really be bothered as I want to try something new lol
[23:48] <jcoxon> yeah
[23:48] Ebola (n=Ebola@host81-152-204-231.range81-152.btcentralplus.com) left irc: "braaaaaaaandy"
[23:48] <jcoxon> know the feeling
[23:48] <jcoxon> looking forward to see if this router works!
[23:48] <LaurenceB> need to get a decent servo for my flight tests
[23:50] <jcoxon> i'm also putting my first proper circuit together :-D
[23:50] <jcoxon> need a 2 stage trigger for my camera
[23:50] <LaurenceB> On/off control?
[23:50] <jcoxon> and instead of using the flight computer i'm building a circuit out of 555 chips
[23:50] <LaurenceB> I see
[23:51] <jcoxon> the button is half depress to focus and then full press to take the picture
[23:51] <LaurenceB> I've been thinking about gumstix, can multiple users log in?
[23:52] <jcoxon> yup
[23:52] <LaurenceB> I was thinking of having packet radio
[23:52] <LaurenceB> where you could log in
[23:53] <LaurenceB> or run irc or something similar
[23:53] <LaurenceB> but I guess the users wouldn't have to log in
[23:53] <jcoxon> i wrote some software once which would have made pegasus log in to this channel and dump the gps coordinates
[23:53] <LaurenceB> cool how?
[23:54] <jcoxon> i once wrote a graphical irc client in C++
[23:54] <jcoxon> only bit of complicated software i've ever writen
[23:54] <jcoxon> so its quite easy
[23:54] <LaurenceB> does the phone have a modem then
[23:54] <jcoxon> gnokii can act as a software modem
[23:55] <jcoxon> i've dialed up before
[23:55] <LaurenceB> how do you get the data into the phone tho
[23:55] <jcoxon> it was rather unreliable but i think that was due to poor voltage shifting with my old desgin
[23:55] <jcoxon> design*
[23:55] <LaurenceB> if its just serial then the modem must be in the phone surely?
[23:56] <jcoxon> ummm i don't think the phone has a modem
[23:56] <LaurenceB> or do you use audio
[23:56] <LaurenceB> into the audio in out?
[23:56] <jcoxon> no no
[23:56] <jcoxon> its done by the serial port
[23:57] <LaurenceB> Interesting... I don't think my phone will do that
[23:57] <jcoxon> one sec i'll track down the info
[23:57] <LaurenceB> I've tried to get it to dial up modems using at commands but it wasn't having it
[23:57] <jcoxon> http://www.penguin-soft.com/penguin/man/8/mgnokiidev.html
[23:57] <jcoxon> gnokii makes a virtual modem
[23:58] <jcoxon> it seems
[23:58] <jcoxon> that can use the phone
[23:58] <jcoxon> dial up the internet and then open an irc connection here
[23:59] <LaurenceB> As it works using nokia fbus
[23:59] <LaurenceB> I'm guessing it works by sending in digital audio
[23:59] <LaurenceB> through the serial
