[19:31] <riksta> did they launch?
[19:46] <jcoxon> riksta, nope
[19:46] <jcoxon> scrubbed at the last minute
[19:46] <jcoxon> i think the plan is to try again next weekend
[19:47] <riksta> cool, glad they didn't risk it
[19:47] <jcoxon> the winds were very strong as well
[19:54] riksta (n=rick@89.241.50.139) left irc: "Leaving"

[22:47] <jcoxon> hey defy
[22:47] <defy> hey :) hows it going
[22:47] <jcoxon> haven't spoken to you for ages
[22:47] <jcoxon> its going well
[22:47] <defy> yea I've had too much work lately =/
[22:47] <jcoxon> oh dear
[22:47] <jcoxon> know the feeling
[22:48] <defy> hehe
[22:49] <jcoxon> glider project getting anywhere?
[22:49] <defy> weather has only just started getting good here for it, but my gps guided submarine is more or less finished
[22:50] <defy> which means the next step is onto the glider
[22:51] <jcoxon> oooo a website for teh gps sub?
[22:51] <defy> I dont have much info up, I'm horrible at documenting :P but some mid build pics are up at http://defy.net/gallery/
[22:51] <defy> about 3 pages in
[22:52] <defy> I had it in the water a few times
[22:52] <defy> nav system seemed to work okay
[22:52] <defy> but then my gumstix filesystem shat it's self...so i've been in gumstix fixing mode for about the last week
[22:53] <defy> I'm trying to move uboot over to ttyS1 so I can flash it all over the wireless
[22:53] <defy> and never have to pull the board combos apart...its such a pain..but I still haven't figured out how to change uboot's serial port
[22:53] <jcoxon> oh yeah i read your posting to the mailing list
[22:53] <defy> hehe
[22:54] <jcoxon> the sub is quite big!
[22:54] <defy> hehe
[22:55] <defy> the harbour gets pretty choppy so I wanted it to be fairly weighted so it doesn't get thrown around too much
[22:55] <defy> I want it to be able to navigate even if rougher weather
[22:55] <jcoxon> does it go underwater? how does the gps work?
[22:56] <defy> nah no under water yet
[22:56] <defy> so its not a real "submarine"
[22:56] <defy> but its completely sealed
[22:56] <defy> and when I had the balast a little too front heavy, at full speed it would submerge its self
[22:57] <jcoxon> hehe
[22:58] <defy> maybe once i'm finished moving this all over to the glider, I'll work on actually making the sub submerge
[22:58] <defy> might need to make a larger sub though
[22:59] <jcoxon> hehe
[22:59] <jcoxon> i'm at the mo hacking a wireless router as a flight computer
[22:59] <jcoxon> however everything has gone crazy as i'm going to africa in 2 weeks
[22:59] <jcoxon> got lots to plan
[22:59] <defy> wow cool, whats going on in africa?
[23:00] <jcoxon> i'm going to visit a friend in senegal
[23:01] <jcoxon> however instead of going direct i'm going to fly to morroco and then cross the sahara by land
[23:01] <jcoxon> buses and trains and a little bit of hitching
[23:01] <defy> sounds like an adventure, hehe...
[23:01] <defy> are you going to gps log your tracks
[23:02] <jcoxon> hope so
[23:02] <jcoxon> though my gps isn't very good
[23:02] <jcoxon> i can't actually download from it
[23:02] <jcoxon> and i can't afford another one
[23:02] <defy> cant use the gumstix?
[23:02] <jcoxon> what i'll do is log the places i visit
[23:02] <defy> sweet
[23:02] <jcoxon> hmmmm i'm not sure plane people would like it
[23:03] <defy> yea thats the main reason i didn't take mine on my last trip either
[23:03] <defy> it looked to dodgey
[23:03] <defy> wires hanging out everywhere
[23:03] <jcoxon> oooo thats so cool - build it into my backpack
[23:03] <jcoxon> nah haven't got time
[23:04] <defy> you'd just have to be prepared to explain it to security, as long as there is no c4 attached you'd be sweet..hehe
[23:04] <jcoxon> just have to stick with my crappy garmin
[23:04] <defy> hehe
[23:05] <jcoxon> it would be pretty damn cool
[23:05] <jcoxon> just the present state of security not worth the hassle
[23:05] <jcoxon> this summer i got back from africa the day before the super security was put in place
[23:05] <jcoxon> had my gumstix in my bag - loads of wires
[23:05] <jcoxon> so would have got snipered
[23:06] <jcoxon> right i'm going to have to go defy - screwed my back so need some rest
[23:07] <jcoxon> good to talk to you
[23:07] <jcoxon> cya
[23:07] jcoxon (n=jcoxon@jac208.caths.cam.ac.uk) left irc: "Leaving"
[23:10] <defy> doh :)
