[00:07] <Professor> okay, I gotta jet. the gf just called and reminded me it's time to go home. I'll keep ya updated w/ launch info.

[07:11] <Professor> evenin' all. I posted some pix of my payload

[07:12] <Professor> So far all I have is the radio gear, but it's pretty much done on that end
[07:12] <Professor> I need to add a camera and some way to fire it, and also a timer to control the cut down device

[10:24] <Professor> evenin'
[10:24] <Professor> morning? hehe. it's 3:24am here
[10:28] <jcoxon> Hey Professor
[10:28] <jcoxon> morning here as well
[10:28] <jcoxon> 10.24am
[10:29] <Professor> right on
[10:29] <Professor> I just added HAARP to the wiki page and signed up for the list
[10:30] <jcoxon> excellent
[10:30] <jcoxon> the wiki is growing nicely
[10:30] <Professor> turns out my batteries are bad. blah. 100 AA batteries for $50
[10:30] <Professor> they ran the gps for about 30 seconds
[10:30] <jcoxon> got some good info on there
[10:30] <Professor> yah, it's a cool site
[10:30] <jcoxon> wow
[10:30] <Professor> 100 AA *lithium primary batteries* that is
[10:31] <jcoxon> checked that they weren't shorting out?
[10:31] <Professor> yah
[10:31] <jcoxon> actually you would of know
[10:31] <jcoxon> they would have gone bang!
[10:31] <Professor> I ran off a bench supply and monitored current. at 12.5 volts it was going no higher than 60mA
[10:32] <Professor> these things are rated for quite a bit more than that
[10:32] <jcoxon> yeah
[10:33] <jcoxon> did you get my email about cameras?
[10:33] <Professor> I'm going to try two 9v lithiums
[10:33] <Professor> yes
[10:33] <Professor> I don't know any details about most cameras though
[10:33] <Professor> like, do they go into sleep mode? will pushing the button wake them up? or wake up and take a pic?
[10:33] <jcoxon> depends
[10:33] <jcoxon> what i do
[10:33] <jcoxon> is get a relatively cheap 3MP camera
[10:34] <jcoxon> use energizer lithiums batteries in it
[10:34] <jcoxon> turn the screen off and flash
[10:34] <jcoxon> they usually can take about 200 pics before the batteries run out
[10:34] <Professor> ah, right on
[10:34] <jcoxon> i actually turn off power down
[10:35] <jcoxon> for your first launch go relatively cheap with the camera
[10:35] <jcoxon> not worth loosing a nice one!
[10:35] <Professor> true that
[10:35] <Professor> maybe my gf's old camera will work
[10:36] <Professor> that thing dies after about 10 minutes though
[10:36] <Professor> then again I haven't tried lithium batteries
[10:52] <Professor> I added some stuff for Soekris boards
[10:52] <Professor> http://wiki.ukhas.org.uk/ideas:flight_computer
[10:52] <jcoxon> oh cool
[10:52] <jcoxon> i didn't have any experience with them so i thought i'd leave it to someone else to update it
[10:52] <Professor> I've used them for stuff @ work
[11:41] <phatmonkey> hey all
[11:42] <phatmonkey> i'm here for a few minutes
[11:43] <jcoxon> hey ben
[11:43] <jcoxon> get the emails?
[11:47] <defy> hrm, I should writeup build instructions for the servo multiplexer
[11:48] <phatmonkey> please do!
[11:48] <phatmonkey> yeah, replied
[11:49] <phatmonkey> i could be pushed to make a balloon in a couple of weeks i suppose, would it would be rushing it
[11:49] <phatmonkey> what with transmitting data and the ground station and all that
[11:50] <phatmonkey> if we were to have 3+ payloads, we'd need quite a large balloon wouldn't we
[11:51] <jcoxon> well we could always go for 2
[11:52] <phatmonkey> i like the idea of multiple payloads and redundancy
[11:52] <phatmonkey> any, i need to go, bbiab
[11:52] <phatmonkey> +way
[11:53] <jcoxon> cya
