[08:08] <defy> hey :)
[08:08] <defy> I managed to get a parser working in perl
[08:08] <defy> straight off of the serial instead of through gpsd
[09:15] jcoxon2 (i=keefejoh@seraph.techwareit.com) joined #highaltitude.
[09:15] <jcoxon2> hey defy
[09:15] <jcoxon2> just read the logs
[09:15] <jcoxon2> what does the parser do?
[09:27] <defy> computes the long/lat to decimal and outputs just the lat, long, alt, speed, heading
[09:27] <defy> so it can grab the altitude every second
[09:28] <jcoxon2> :-D
[09:28] <jcoxon2> does it write to a file?
[09:28] <defy> it can do very easily yeah
[09:28] <defy> either with >> filename, or an open() inside the script
[09:28] <jcoxon2> could i be cheeky and have a copy
[09:28] <defy> http://defy.net/balloon/files/gpsparser.txt
[09:28] jcoxon2 (i=keefejoh@seraph.techwareit.com) left irc: "CGI:IRC"
[09:29] jcoxon3 (i=keefejoh@seraph.techwareit.com) joined #highaltitude.
[09:29] <jcoxon3> oops damn web based irc
[09:29] <defy> hehe
[09:29] <defy> [20:28:44] <jcoxon2> could i be cheeky and have a copy
[09:29] <defy> [20:28:49] <defy> http://defy.net/balloon/files/gpsparser.txt
[09:29] <jcoxon3> thaks
[09:30] <jcoxon3> thanks*
[09:30] <jcoxon3> is microperl in the buildroot?
[09:30] <defy> yup
[09:30] <defy> compiles in fine
[09:30] <jcoxon3> excellent
[09:30] <defy> it uses up about 1.3mb of space though
[09:30] <jcoxon3> wow
[09:31] <defy> yea, thats perl for ya
[09:31] <jcoxon3> i guess i could stop being lazy and write it in C++
[09:31] <jcoxon3> it would have been an issue on my old gumstix
[09:32] <jcoxon3> but with 16mb got loads of space
[09:32] <defy> hehe yeah
[09:34] <jcoxon3> grrr can't wait for this last exam to be over
[09:34] <defy> hehe
[09:35] <jcoxon3> defy: i wonder if you know, on the gpstix are all the serial ports avaliable?
[09:35] <jcoxon3> i've got btuart as ttyS1
[09:35] <jcoxon3> and STuart as ttyS0
[09:35] <defy> I believe so
[09:35] <jcoxon3> does HWuart go as ttyS3?
[09:36] <defy> you get the console on ttyS0 yea?
[09:36] <jcoxon3> yeah
[09:36] <jcoxon3> not that i use serial connection
[09:36] <defy> yea, I'm not entirely sure how its all setup, I use hwuart on the btuart pins, so the btuart becomes ttyS3 and it hardware
[09:36] <defy> is*
[09:36] <jcoxon3> so you get the flow control?
[09:36] <defy> yeah
[09:37] <jcoxon3> right i reckon my gumstix is going to need a bit of reorganisation
[09:37] <jcoxon3> but the radiomodems on to the btuart
[09:37] <jcoxon3> and then stick the phone on ttyS0
[09:37] <defy> but if I end up writing my own serial protocol and stop using pppd, i wont need the flow control
[09:37] <defy> hehe
[09:37] <defy> i wish i could find some type of headers to put on the gpsstix
[09:39] <jcoxon3> hmmm it would be helpful
