[20:00] <jcoxon> hey mmealling
[20:04] <mmealling> neat project!
[20:04] <mmealling> do you work with any of the guys at JP Aerospace at all?
[20:07] <jcoxon> no one here does
[20:07] <jcoxon> though they do some cool things
[20:08] <jcoxon> JP Aerospace are based in the US if i remember
[20:08] <jcoxon> I'm in the UK
[20:13] <mmealling> yep.... but they're a loose knit group and fairly distributed.....
[20:14] <jcoxon> true
[20:14] <jcoxon> what they've done is amazing
[20:14] <jcoxon> i'm especially interested in their dark sky station
[20:15] <jcoxon> over the summer i'm working on the Cambridge University Project
[20:15] <jcoxon> hope to start developing towards something like that
[20:26] <mmealling> yep.... I'm slightly worried about their contracts though. From what I could tell the Air Force is thinking about taking that back and giving it to a big contractor instead.....
[20:26] <jcoxon> doesn't sound good
[20:27] <jcoxon> its certainly an interersting approach
[20:28] <jcoxon> really like the idea of have a station suspended at around 70,000ft
[20:32] <jcoxon> mmealling, how are you going to communicate with your suborbiter?
[20:34] <mmealling> jcoxon, not sure yet.... someone else is working the telemtry issue
[20:34] <jcoxon> oh right, its the one major problem in what "we" do
[20:34] <jcoxon> not allowed to use HAM radio - stupid old licence laws
[20:35] <mmealling> there are frequencies reserved just for this kind of stuff.... but we'd like to use unlicensed spectrum as much as possible....
[20:36] <jcoxon> same
[20:37] Action: mmealling looks longingly at all those nice UHF bands being wasted on TV that come available in '09
[20:37] <jcoxon> hehe
[20:37] <jcoxon> really need to look through all the licencing laws of the UK
