[08:43] <Neutrino> hi
[08:45] <jcoxon> hey
[08:45] <jcoxon> bad news
[08:45] <Neutrino> yeah just read the blog
[08:46] <Neutrino> but hey, great things are only achieved by trying!
[08:46] <jcoxon> yeah
[08:46] <jcoxon> not going to give up though
[08:47] <jcoxon> pegasus III
[08:47] <jcoxon> but i'm going to go back to basics
[08:47] <jcoxon> made Pegasus II to complicated
[08:47] <Neutrino> thats the spirit, long live peg III.
[08:47] <jcoxon> right sorry Neutrino I have to go to lectures
[08:47] <jcoxon> cya

[19:09] <jcoxon> hey Professor
[19:09] <Professor> hey, brb
[19:10] <Professor> @ work, boss is lurking
[19:10] <Professor> hey, so I bought a Kaymont KCI-1500 balloon
[19:10] <jcoxon> :-)
[19:11] <jcoxon> cool
[19:11] <Professor> gps circuit board is working but the APRS board is giving me trouble
[19:11] <jcoxon> thats 1500g isn't it?
[19:11] <Professor> yah
[19:11] <jcoxon> cool so its coming along nicely
[19:11] <jcoxon> it will go high!
[19:11] <Professor> lifts about 2 kilos with a pound of lift to spare
[19:11] <jcoxon> APRS ain't my field
[19:11] <jv> jcoxon: would adding a solar powered fan make any difference for the wind?
[19:12] <jcoxon> ummmm interesting idea jv
[19:12] <jcoxon> i sort of doubt it
[19:12] <Professor> good at coding? I'm working on a visual C program that keeps giving me trouble
[19:12] <jcoxon> nah coding isn't my strong point - I use shell scripts hehe
[19:12] <Professor> right on. this is for an unrelated project
[19:13] <jcoxon> then no sorry
[19:13] <Professor> I'm controlling a USB based digital storage oscilloscope with arbitrary waveform generator. The program appears to be locked (the gui is anyway) but it's obviously still running because my real scope shows the data chirps I'm sending out
[19:14] <Professor> alas, it's microshit
[19:14] <jcoxon> urgh
[19:14] <jcoxon> sorry no idea
[19:15] <jv> jcoxon: http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/rc/79c7/
[19:15] <Professor> it's okay. I've got 3rd party activex controls in there for graphing. I'm going to write a very stripped down program that does the core stuff but without the fluff
[19:15] <Professor> it just sucks because I can't code worth a darn and now I have to debug other peoples code ;)
[19:17] <jcoxon> p
[19:18] <jcoxon> jv, interesting
[19:18] <jcoxon> a few people have been on here thinking about systems that instead of going up and down actually stay up for a while
[19:19] <jv> now, i guess hovering at 40K is a little different that at the ground, but that's what the baloon would be for :)
[19:19] <jcoxon> you would have issues with the lack of atmosphere
[19:21] phatmonkey (n=phatmonk@65.98.2.81.in-addr.arpa) left irc: Read error: 113 (No route to host)
[19:22] <Professor> oh man, those silverlit flyers are nice. It's nice to see the price below $300 now
[19:31] <jcoxon> :-D
[19:34] <jcoxon> would be hard to make automated :D and i wouldn't trust a radio link to 40k on it!
[19:41] phatmonkey (n=phatmonk@65.98.2.81.in-addr.arpa) joined #highaltitude.
[19:51] <Professor> I don't think it's capable of lifting enough solar panels to keep ti flying
[19:52] <Professor> if you could use a directed microwave beam...... :)
[19:54] <jcoxon> haha
[20:03] phatmonkey_ (n=phatmonk@65.98.2.81.in-addr.arpa) joined #highaltitude.
[20:04] <jv> Professor: is there any flexible baloon material which would double as solar panel?
[20:07] Action: phatmonkey_ smacks phatmonkey
[20:07] <phatmonkey_> diiiee
[20:08] <jcoxon> hehe
[20:08] <jcoxon> no fighting!
